How to  charge cars in a quick, safe and cost- effective manner without overloading the network.

 The main challenge in smart charging is to ensure that drivers can charge their cars in a quick, safe and cost-effective manner, without overloading the electricity network. After all, electric cars consume a lot of energy.

ICT Group has built an entire control system of charging stations, including its hardware and software, as well as the GSOP cloud system. In addition, ICT has advised Greenflux to use Tele2 for the mobile connections between the charging stations and the cloud.

Smart Charging is a good example of a new energy service, based on IoT & Cloud technology. This type of innovation is essential in order to meet the challenges of the new energy market. ICT Group is proud to be playing a role in realizing this innovation.

Racing team strikes again

They did it again! In June, the InMotion racing team broke the electric lap record at Circuit Zandvoort. Last weekend, they shattered another electric lap record during the SuperPrix in Zolder. During the event, professional driver known from Porsche GT3, Xavier Maassen, set a laptime of 1:42.614. An improvement of the former record by more than 18 seconds. ICT Group is one of the partners of InMotion and provided them with a completely new software platform called Motar. ICT Group congratulates InMotion with this new record! Partnership ICT and InMotion InMotion is an automotive race team that consists of students of Eindhoven University of Technology and Fontys University of Applied Sciences. InMotion aims to participate in the 24h race of Le Mans in 2020 with their IM01 race car. Together ICT and InMotion developed the Electronic Control Units (ECU’s) for the complete IM/e race car. ICT provides its Model based development Production Platform: Motar, consisting of the ECU’s hardware and platform software, while InMotion develops the control algorithms (application software) for these ECU’s.

After movie Developer Day 2017

Due to the succes of the previous editions, the ICT Developer Day was organized again on May 30th 2017 at Hotel and Congress Centre Papendal in Arnhem. And was once more an enormous success! Theme of this year’s edition: Accelerate! The market demands introducing innovative new products faster and faster. This acceleration requires new techniques and methods, including software development​. Keynote speaker Hans Bos, National Technology Officer Microsoft Netherlands, connected the history, today and future of technology. And he challenged us to accelerate in a responsible way. InMotion racecar breaks the electric lap record

They did it! With 1:48,371, the InMotion team shattered the electric lap record with 16 seconds. Beitske Visser, Dutch emerging talent in the international motorsport, had the honor of making the record attempt. An extensive network of partners has made it possible to optimize the technology of the race car in every detail. One of these partners is ICT Group. We provided a completely new software platform called Motar, which made it possible, among other things, for InMotion to deliver this amazing performance. ICT Group congratulates InMotion with their record! InMotion-ICT Group-MotarInMotion-ICT Group-Motar Seamless integration from Simulink Together ICT Group and InMotion developed the control ECUs for the racecar. ICT provided the Motar-platform, consisting of the ECU hardware, basic software and Model based development toolkit. InMotion developed the actual control algorithms that runs on these ECUs, controlling the entire car. With Motar, ICT offered a way to integrate control algorithms which are built in Simulink on a production class automotive hardware platform without any additional effort or hand-coding. By using the Motar toolbox in the Simulink control models, integration of these models on the ECU HW is done by a single button push.

Remeha transforms from manufacturer to Big Datadriven Service Provider

Netherlands-based company Remeha, a leading manufacturer and distributor of innovative heating and hot water systems and services, has transformed its business model since implementing Internet of Things. The company did not have the technology available to monitor the use of the boilers it sold to its customers. Once they created more connectivity, they could capture data from the boilers and incorporate this into their reports. This allowed the company to keep track of boiler usage and provide effective advice on maintenance. Their installation technicians completed a predictive maintenance module, which enabled them to deliver added value. The data exchanged by the boilers also reveals information about their long-term usage, allowing Remeha to optimize its products on a continuous basis. This IoT solution provides Remeha customers with greater flexibility and improves customer satisfaction because technical issues can be avoided. The new system allowed Remeha to change from a supplier of heating products to a proactive, innovative big data-driven heating provider. Transform decades of experience into a digital service to scale globally

This is a perfect example of a company without any hardcore software skills, which completely digital transformed by adopting cloud software as their digital strategy and by doing so becoming an unique Managed Service Provider (MSP). Ricardo is a consultancy firm, providing technical expertise, assurance and specialist engineering services to help their clients, like the Dutch National Railway, to navigate the rail industry’s operational, commercial and regulatory demands. Ricardo needed to have a service to globally scale their knowledge. The new service should bring more value to its current customers, but also open up the opportunity to expand to new customers and unconventional business models. Great compilation that combines the work and progress of ICT Group and InMotion

This week InMotion celebrated another trackday at Holland’s most famous circuit, Circuit Zandvoort. It resulted in four successful laps, tons of data and a new learning experience for the whole team. ICT has partnered with Automotive Technology InMotion to mutually develop the IM/e racecar. Check out the video above that combines the work and progress of ICT Group and InMotion. Another step to the next level InMotion strives to participate in the 24h race of Le Mans with their IM01 endurance racer. To optimize the racecar as good as possible, last January, the team started with extensive testing on the dynamometer. They gained insights into all sorts of data of the car. After this successful shakedown, the car is optimized for the racetrack. In February, InMotion took the IM/e to the track for the very first time. During testing they encountered some minor technical teething troubles, but it was nothing structural. This weeks trackday was another step to the next level in optimizing the racecar.

ICT extends the Model Driven Engineering skills

The biggest challenge while developing software for systems is the communication and alignment between all disciplines and everyone involved in the process. Model Driven Engineering (MDE) is a methodology that enables complete synergy between all parties. It’s a next step in software development that is not completely new but for which the time now seems to be right. Recently, ICT’s business units High Tech and Healthcare gathered for an extended training to update and extend their knowledge on Sirius, a Model Driven Engineering tool. Value (idea)-diversity!

In April 2016, former football international John de Wolf was appointed ‘Ambassador against unemployment of those over 50 (years of age)’. The Dutch government decided to start this campaign due to the fact that there’s a significant group of 50+ unemployed who have problems finding a new job. Many employers are reluctant to hire them, as they are seen as less productive, their skills are perceived as outdated and organizations think that this group calls in sick a lot. Hence, they struggle with a lot of bias and John de Wolf took up the task to prove those with a negative perception wrong. He emphasizes the advantages of diversity in the workforce and as ICT Group also hired several new colleagues of over 50 years of age, John decided to come and visit us. He made a little video that you can watch above this message. It’ll show you that none of the above mentioned prejudices are a reality in our organization. Having this ambassador is of course a good –and unfortunately necessary- initiative, but employers can benefit from a broader sense of diversity. Diversity is not just about age, gender or ethnicity. It is about encouraging everyone, independent of their role, seniority or educational level, to speak up. This way you can create an atmosphere with idea-diversity where employees feel motivated to take initiative, discuss concepts and innovate. Having a mix of perspectives can bring ideas to live as colleagues are challenged to look at an issue from multiple directions hence shaping their idea and learning from each other. We already see that happening within ICT Group, where projects with a diversified team combine expertise with fresh views. Everyone should be able to contribute, also those who are over 50 and bring a lot of experience and knowledge. This is not a simple challenge and it would be nice to have organizations inspiring each other, so maybe John de Wolf can continue as an ‘Ambassador for idea-diversity’ after his current project finishes.
