In the automotive domain, OEM’s are investing a large budget in R&D to develop new features in vehicles which will result in safer and/or more cost efficient driving. Using the newest technologies in fully electrical or hybrid powered vehicles give end-customers a cost efficient solution. An important aspect of this is the Battery Management System.
Battery Management System
The Business Unit Automotive & Mobility co-develops Battery Management Systems for leading Tier-1 suppliers in the industry. The BMS is controlling the energy charge and discharge models of the individual cells in a battery of a hybrid or full electric system. We are involved in the embedded software design, implementation and testing of the BMS consisting of a Battery Management Controller (BMC) and several Cell Monitor Controllers (CMC) for a next generation modular battery concept. We co-develop the system based on AUTOSAR compliant architectures where the main controller could handle a flexible number of subsidiary cell controllers to adapt to the specific need of the energy capacity for several vehicle brands. Due to the high voltage hazards our BMS implementations are functional safety compliant.
Functional Safety implementation
We have built up domain knowledge on functional safety implementations and standards like ISO 26262 and IEC 61508 over a period of more than 15 years working for leading companies in this industry. Through in-house pre-developments and multiple customer projects with different requirements up to SIL3 and ASIL-D.
Within the Powertrain domain the Business Unit Automotive & Mobility provides system- and software engineering services for electronic systems, that reduce emissions, optimize fuel consumption and deliver outstanding handling characteristics. We closely work together with our customers in order to develop state-of-the-art production class embedded software with the right quality, on time and within budget.
