mPACSView is part of the Medical Data Exchange (MDE) approach introduced by ICT, which aims to ensure that relevant medical data is always available regardless of place and time and is already being rolled out in various hospitals.
An example of this is a patient who has had an MRI scan done. The attending medical specialist may wish to call on assistance from a colleague with specialized expertise. If the colleague is not present in the hospital, mPACSView will make it possible for him or her to use a tablet to access diagnostic images directly from Picture Archiving and Communication (PACs), to view them, and to provide feedback when necessary. This ensures that the expertise of the medical specialist is used to the fullest possible benefit of the patient.
