Functional Safety – ISO 26262
Functional Safety – ISO 26262
Functional Safety is the part of the overall safety of a system that depends on that system operating correctly in response to its inputs, including the safe management of likely operator errors, hardware failures and environmental changes. Objective of Functional Safety is freedom from unacceptable risk of physical injury or of damage to the health of people either directly or indirectly through damage to property or to the environment.
Complexity in hardware and software of electric and electronic systems in modern vehicles increased due to year on year adding of functionality. The automotive industry needs to develop products using state-of-the-art technology to enhance quality and safety (ISO 26262). This growing demand for functional safety implementations includes all activities in the V-model, including bi-directional traceability of requirements and formal verification & validation of the developments across the V-model.
The Business Unit Automotive & Mobility has built up domain knowledge on functional safety implementations and standards like ISO 26262 and IEC 61508 over a period of more than 15 years working for leading companies in this industry. Through in-house pre-developments and multiple customer projects with different requirements up to SIL3 and ASIL-D.
We closely work together with our customers in order to develop state-of-the-art production class embedded software with the right quality, on time and within budget.
