TOC Europe – Your Global Container Supply Chain Event

ICT Group will be present again at the TOC Europe in Rotterdam Ahoy in 2019. We would like to invite you at our stand: B.64. In addition to our stand we will gladly inform you during the TECH TOC conference. TECH TOC is a conference for the stakeholders in port and terminal industry to come together, share experiences and expertise and map out solutions to common current and future challenges.

On Tuesday June 18 from 13:15h to 14:45h Pieter van der Spek, System Architect at ICT Group will inform you about ‘Moving container terminals to the 21st century’. We are also involved in the presentation on Wednesday June 19 from 12:15h to 14:00h, about ‘The intelligent Port’ from Joe Bester, Chief Marketing Officer – IoT.NXT (OrangeNXT).

Moving container terminals to the 21st century
Automating operations on a container terminal is hardly new nowadays. However, standard solutions do not always apply or offer only part of a solution. This means that some customization (or a lot) is still necessary. Furthermore, as more and more systems on a terminal are becoming automated, it turns out that people on a terminal do more than just their jobs.
The standard-off-the-shelf solutions only replace the main task its human predecessor fulfilled, but the employee did more than just that. Employees also notice things happening on the terminal or, more importantly, not happening. Automated systems do not.
With more and more automation based on products from different vendors, the number of eyes on the terminal diminishes and so the number of people noticing something is wrong (or will go wrong if nothing changes) also goes down.
In this story we will show how we are working on automated terminals based both standard and custom-made terminals without losing that invaluable insight if all systems are working happily together.

The intelligent Port
Presentation will be to support the concept that the internet of things has the potential to fundamentally shift the way we interact with our surrounding. The ability to monitor and manage objects in the physical world electronically makes it possible to bring data driven decision making to optimise the performance of systems and processes – help companies to get far more out of their assets, machines, systems and people. We will show the audience that the journey to the digital nirvana does not have to be filled with obstacles and hurdles i.e. risk – time, cost and disruption of my existing business.
We will show how the typical operating environments (eg a harbour) comes with equipment, systems and protocols that were not specifically designed for the digital world and how turning these legacy, perfectly suitable assets into a source of digital information that can be used for a step change in efficiencies. We will tell this story by means of an implemented use case running in a major port.

The annual TECH TOC seminar at TOC Europe 2019 brings together terminal operators and users with planners and designers, equipment and technology providers to discuss current industry challenges and innovative responses.

Please watch the video of the TOC Europe 2018 and be inspired.

TOC Europe is the global meeting place for ports, terminals, shipping lines, 3PLs & shippers. TOC Europe is part of a global portfolio of events that bring together stakeholders of the container supply chain to learn, debate and network. TOC has long been considered best in class by container terminal operators and their suppliers and has evolved into a complete container supply chainevent, delivering both technical content and also offering a platform to the stakeholders higher up in the cargo chain.
